Friday Tavern

Friday Evening Tavern – 7:00pm – 8:30pm: The Norns’ Welcome

For dietary concerns contact Patronne Murienne l’aloiere at dragonfly78@gmail.com.

As travelers arrive at Ymir 51, the Norns invite you to rest beneath the boughs of Yggdrasil and partake of a tavern spread that weaves together the threads of SCA cookery—what has been, what is, and what shall be.

Patronne Murienne l’aloiere serves as your guide through this culinary journey across time.

Urdr’s Dish (What Has Been): Shepherd’s Pie A beloved staple of SCA feasts throughout the 1980s and 90s, served with fond nostalgia for our Society’s early days—before we learned it bore no resemblance to anything actually period!

Verdandi’s Dish (What Is): Benes Yfryed Beans fried with onions, garlic, and spices from The Forme of Cury (England, c. 1390). A Known World favorite for its ease of preparation and familiar flavors.

Skuld’s Dish (What Shall Be): Kheer & Tzoalli Indian rice pudding from the Manasollasa (India, 1130 CE) and Aztec amaranth honey bars from the Florentine Codex (Mexico, 16th c.). The future of the SCA embraces the full breadth of pre-17th century world cuisine.
