Contests

The Arts and Sciences Hall will open after Morning Court on Saturday morning. Entries can be dropped off at that time. Entries must be picked up at 3pm, before Evening Court. Any remaining items will be given to Lost and Found. Each competition has a designated area. There will be an individual on site to assist you if necessary.

Bakers’ Dozen Largesse Competition for the New Baronage

Conditions:
Each Entrant enters 13 items of their choice to be given as Largesse. They may all be the same, all similar, or all completely different. The winning entrant will receive 1 of each entry with the remaining 12 going to the new Baronage. Winner is determined by Populace “bean count”. Please mark each of the items with Modern name, SCA name, and contact information. 

Freya’s Kitchen Challenge

Conditions:
Entries must be from a culture the Vikings visited before 1600 CE. Documentation must include at least two elements within Freya’s domain. Bonus points may be awarded if more elements are included.
Freja’s domain:
1. Beauty.
2. Fertility.
3. Gold.
4. Love.
5. Magic.
6. Sex.
7. War.
Example entry: Cheese tart
Documentation references cheese within the tart undergoing a magical transformation (making the cheese or the melting of it during cooking) and the golden color achieved after baking. Two elements, magic and gold, are within Freya’s domain.

Freya’s Golden Halls

This competition will be items that incorporate the color gold or yellow in their design. They can be textile based, metal, leather, jewelry, stone, food items, etc. The Alchemist’s Guild of Atlantia will sponsor this competition. The prize will be a handcrafted Viking Sunstone pendant by Alan MacFarlane.
