Class descriptions

Viking Age Oval Brooches

In this class we will focus on the Oval Brooches which feature prominently in Viking Age Norse feminine clothing. We will look some history, and a system of classification for some of the major styles. We’ll also try to put them into a general chronological, and regional context, so that you can chose a pair which suits for your persona or garb goals.  Class will not be recorded.

More than a Viking: making Norse Clothing That’s More Specific

This class will be in two parts. In the first part we will put some extant finds into their regional context, with the goal of making clothing, and accessories more specific to a time and place. In the second portion we will analyze some images of recreation garb, with an eye towards determining “what story” it tells and options to refine that story. Class will not be recorded.
